Happy Resurrection Sunday

Today I have the honor of preaching about the glorious resurrection of my Lord. I'll preach from John 20:24-29, about his appearance to his doubting disciple Thomas.
Studying these verses this past week has increased my love for my Lord and my appreciation for Thomas. I'm grateful that his story of doubt was included by John in his gospel. I can relate to his disbelief and I need the loving but firm reprimand of the Savior, "Do not disbelieve, but believe."
I pray that for you this Resurrection Sunday will be a day of joyful reflection and celebration of our risen Lord. Hallelujah! Jesus has risen!

Praise our great and merciful God for crowning His ministry with this pinnacle work of resurrection to bring us to newness of life--and make us into monuments of His saving grace! Thomas Brooks expresses the greatness of God's finished work for His chosen ones: "To make a man holy--is greater than to create a world. It can be done by none but by the Holy Spirit"

I am thankful for Thomas and Peter-for being included-it was helpful to seem them portrayed which helped in seeing alot from the Bible. I have seen films of the LIfe of Jesus this weekend and grateful for the aspects of the Bible Characters I learned in these along with.

There are so many characters in the gospel story that I can relate to. I see myself as a run-away disciple, a doubting Thomas, a broken-hearted Mary... and after coming to grips with His righteousness and my filthy rags, I see myself even as a hostile member of the enraged crowd. But His grace reaches beyond all that and because of His blood I'm His child.
I trust you and your family had a blessed Easter Sunday.

The crucifixion hit me the hardest this year. Maybe because I saw it from a nonbeliever's point of view as well as from mine... What He did for me, and that He is alive, I serve a living God. Oh Hallelujah what a savior!
I see what you are getting at with Thomas, because we all are there. We come to Christ, yet we still have a bit of Thomas in us. Oh if only that weren't so. What I adore though, about our Great God, is the way that He stoops down to our level, and helps our unbelief.
