Micah is with Jesus
My heart is heavy today. The three-year-old son of a very dear family in our church has suffered the effects of a brain tumor for more than a year. Our pastoral team and my family prayed for little Micah many times. We asked God to heal him if it was His will. We prayed that his suffering would be alleviated. But early this morning little Micah went to be with the Lord.
The post on the Davis family blog site today simple reads: "Face to Face with Jesus. At 6:10am this morning our baby Micah went to be with the Lord. No more suffering, no more pain, no more waiting. Face to face with our king and Savior Jesus at last."
The following quote from the good Dr. Spurgeon is medicine for my soul:
Suppose you are a gardener employed by another. It is not your garden, but you are called upon to tend it. You come one morning into the garden, and you find that the best rose has been taken away. You are angry. You go to your fellow servants and charge them with having taken the rose. They declare that they had nothing to do with it, and one says, "I saw the master walking here this morning; I think he took it." Is the gardner angry then? No, at once he says, "I am happy that my rose should have been so fair as to attract the attention of the master. It is his own. He has taken it, let him do what seems good."Let's continue to pray for the Davis family. It is even so with your friends. They wither not by chance. The grave is not filled by accident. men die according to God's will. Your child is gone, but the Master took it. Your husband is gone, your wife is buried—the Master took them. Thank him that he let you have the pleasure of caring for them and tending them while they were here. And thank him that as he gave, he himself has taken away.

Bad Guy Caught With a Mac: This is a great story. A girl's Apple laptop gets stolen but she uses a remote access program to control it and takes a picture of the thief as the doofus sits in front of the stolen computer. "Smile! You're getting your mug shot taken!" Using the picture, the police nab the bad guy. Moral of the story? Don't mess with a high-tech girl's Mac.
New Word Alive's Top 10: The recent New Word Alive conference showed a video top-ten list of books for students. My book Sex is Not the Problem made the list. It's pretty funny. I just wish mine could have made it in the wok.

Church?
"I am reading Joshua Harris book Stop Dating the Church...love it. He talks about the people who believe they can be Christians and never go to church. I have heard this argument many times. They don't believe you have to fellowship..." (Read full post here.)
Jargon Meets Advice
"Boy Meets Girl: I read part of this back when I bought it 7-ish years ago. If you get past the jargon-y parts it has some solid advice." (Read full post here.)
A Brief Review
"I think this book [Sex is Not the Problem (Lust Is)] would appeal to both teenagers and parents, although I would give the parents the book first to read. This is not explicit in its language but it does tackle the difficult questions." (Read full post here.)

Our prayers for our family in Christ, and praise be to our Lord that little Micah is with our King Jesus.
En Cristo.

It is not easy to relinquish a beloved child, even to heaven. But in doing so, in bowing to the will of our sovereign God, there is much peace, comfort and rest in the assurance that He does all things well. Knowing that Micah, and my own child, are face to face with Jesus is wonderful, indeed. Blessed be the name of the Lord.

Dan,
I'm so sorry for your loss. Thanks for sharing the link to your tribute. That is very moving and a real example of faith in the midst of trial. Thank you.

wow. How heart-wrenching, yet infinitely inspirational. Especially after the ordeal yesterday of a family-friend's birth to a still-born baby boy. Why? We demand. Yet God is too good to be mistaken, and somethings we just won't understand this side of eternity. But this we know, these precious little ones are with the Lord and what a comfort that is to my heart. How sweet to know they will not know a minute's worth of pain or suffering any longer... they're in His strong arms.

Where is the Spurgeon quote from?

A very very close friend of mine's daughter is dealing with the same thing. My heart goes out to little Micah's parents. I know what it's like to lose a little one. I will continue to pray.

Eric and others who have asked,
The quotation is from a sermon on Matthew 10:30 that Spurgeon preached April 11, 1858 at the Royal Surrey Gardens Music Hall.
That said, the immediate source of the quote was a book, 2200 Quotations from the Writings of Spurgeon, compiled by Tom Carter and published by Baker Book House.
Thanks,
Katherine

Aside from the very comforting word of God,the Bible, the quote was comforting too to the parents, family and friends.
Indeed a "medicine for the soul"
I am very happy that Micah is in heaven right now! :)
