New Office

CJ just moved downstairs, leaving his Covenant Life Church office for a new one down in Sovereign Grace Ministries. And I've just moved next door to take his. Though he hasn't gone far (same building), it's strange after having him in the office next door for so many years.
He sent me the below email, which reflects his character and his heart for always training up the next generation of leaders in the church. Tomorrow I'll share an interview that tells the story of my relationship with CJ and the profound influence he has had on my life, training me and setting an example in leading the church that I now lead. CJ writes:
This week we will begin moving my stuff downstairs. I guess the goal is for me to be out by the end of the week but for a number of reasons this might not work and the moving process will continue the following week.
Anyway, I just wanted to encourage you to do what I did when I first sat in the chair in the office I now occupy. Recognizing that this chair and role would ultimately be for someone else one day, I prayed that when I no longer occupied that chair and role I would have served the Savior faithfully and positioned my successor for a sweet transition and ministry fruitfulness.
I will pray a similar pray the first day I occupy my new office, so join me in preparing our hearts for the inevitable and living our lives to serve those who come after us.
Finally, I am deeply and profoundly grateful to God that you are the one sitting in that chair.
Your friend,
C.J.

Going Crazy Over Lincoln: On vacation I read Team of Rivals and Manhunt. Next in line are two by Ronald C. White, Jr.: A. Lincoln and Lincoln's Greatest Speech. I just wrote James L. Swanson an email that probably made me sound like a crazed groupie. I think I need professional help. I want to go visit Edwin Stanton's grave in Georgetown. Anybody wanna come?
Homeschooling Grows: I saw this article in USA Today the other day at the grocery store. It's fascinating to see how the homeschool movement is evolving. Read it.
New Facebook Page: This sounds really cheesy, but we just launched a "fan page" over on Facebook. So here's the deal: I've almost reached the limit of friends I'm allowed to have so we started it as a way to have more friends. So just ignore the whole "fan" thing and feel free to join. I'll be posting more there about the new book and conference stuff. I just loaded some of my favorite pictures from NEXT 2009. Visit page.
