All We Like Sheep

For Christmas Eve I gave a brief message from Isaiah 53:6 that says,
"All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD has laid on him the iniquity of us all."At the first of our two services we brought out a sheep in the middle of my message. The sheep had starred in the musical portion of the production and I thought having her with me would enhance my teaching about how Jesus was the lamb of God who took our iniquity and died as our substitute on the cross.
It could have been a profound moment if not for the noisy lowing of the sheep who didn't appreciate being used as a prop. And if that weren't enough of a distraction, the sheep relieved herself as she exited the stage. At this point the congregation went hysterical and no one--including me--remembers a thing that I said afterward.
The whole episode was a reminder of what obstinate, smelly, silly animals sheep are. How appropriate that God compares us to them! Even more remarkable is that the eternal Son of God became one of us in his mission to redeem us. What a humble Savior we worship.
Merry Christmas! I hope your day is filled with many reminders of the grace and mercy of God in Christ Jesus.

Bad Guy Caught With a Mac: This is a great story. A girl's Apple laptop gets stolen but she uses a remote access program to control it and takes a picture of the thief as the doofus sits in front of the stolen computer. "Smile! You're getting your mug shot taken!" Using the picture, the police nab the bad guy. Moral of the story? Don't mess with a high-tech girl's Mac.
New Word Alive's Top 10: The recent New Word Alive conference showed a video top-ten list of books for students. My book Sex is Not the Problem made the list. It's pretty funny. I just wish mine could have made it in the wok.

Church?
"I am reading Joshua Harris book Stop Dating the Church...love it. He talks about the people who believe they can be Christians and never go to church. I have heard this argument many times. They don't believe you have to fellowship..." (Read full post here.)

A Brief Review
"I think this book [Sex is Not the Problem (Lust Is)] would appeal to both teenagers and parents, although I would give the parents the book first to read. This is not explicit in its language but it does tackle the difficult questions." (Read full post here.)

Classic, albeit unfortunate, moment when the sheep relieved itself on stage. I think you had joked earlier in your message about how we would really have a good story to tell our friends and family about what we experienced if the sheep had relieved itself (right on cue, the sheep delivered). In all seriousness, it was a great message and be encouraged that God's word does not return void. You were faithful to share God's word and God could have used the imagery of a lost sheep to draw someone who was in the audience to Himself.
