Gift Idea: Plumb's Ode to Motherhood

In the spirit of Christmas consumerism I thought I'd use a few posts to pass on a some suggestions for gifts. The first is the latest album by Tiffany Arbuckle Lee, the artist known as Plumb. I've enjoyed Tiffany's music over the years. This project is very different. It surprised me. It's a delightful, low-key reflection on motherhood that would make a great stocking stuffer for a mommy of young children. Reviewing the album Kevan Breitinger writes of Plumb:
She is, simply put, happy like a bug in a rug. The mother of two boys, Solomon Fury, almost 2 and a half, and Oliver Canon, 9 months, absolutely revels in the bliss of parenthood and marital happiness. And if that sounds unappealing, don't worry, it isn't. What Blink does is give listeners a window into Plumb's profound joy and awe of the beauty of family life done well, and it comes across as very timely on this immensely personal album.I bought the album from iTunes for $7.99. But if you want something you can wrap, you can buy it from Amazon

Atheism Remix: The contemporary strain of atheism--the New Atheism--is more popular and widely accepted than previous strains. Dr. Al Mohler's newest book provides a Christian response to New Atheism's four leading thinkers: Richard Dawkins, Daniel Dennett, Sam Harris and Christopher Hitchens. You can learn more at a promotional site for the book.
Mahaney on Humor: Humor is a gift from God. When humbly and wisely used, it is a means of transferring truth and generating joy. This message by C.J. Mahaney addresses how we can use humor to build others up and honor God. It's worth a listen.

Church?
"I am reading Joshua Harris book Stop Dating the Church...love it. He talks about the people who believe they can be Christians and never go to church. I have heard this argument many times. They don't believe you have to fellowship..." (Read full post here.)
Jargon Meets Advice
"Boy Meets Girl: I read part of this back when I bought it 7-ish years ago. If you get past the jargon-y parts it has some solid advice." (Read full post here.)
A Brief Review
"I think this book [Sex is Not the Problem (Lust Is)] would appeal to both teenagers and parents, although I would give the parents the book first to read. This is not explicit in its language but it does tackle the difficult questions." (Read full post here.)

That's funny I just stumbled upon this album yesterday! I've even been on her website, which has a great intro, with lightning and thunder!
I talked with my sis-inlaw about it too! She totally loves it! We met her once too, here in Holland. Nice tiny lady! :)

So good to see you Sunday! Thanks for coming up and saying hi! It's such a blessing to worship with a sister church for a day, and see all that God is doing in your church family! God bless!
PS. Thanks for the cd suggestion!
