Praying for Dr. Mohler
Today, The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary posted in a press release that its president, Dr. R. Albert Mohler, Jr, "will require additional surgery after a scheduled colonoscopy on February 11 revealed a [pre-cancerous] tumor in his colon. ....The procedure is likely to require an extensive period for recuperation and recovery." As the report says:
Mohler expressed gratitude to God that medical personnel found the tumor this early. ... "For most of human history, a tumor such as this one would have gone unnoticed until it was too late. I am thankful for modern medicine, but I am even more thankful that we live in a world in which our God hears us when we pray, a Father who listens to his children.
Southern Seminary will release additional information as it becomes available. The Mohler family has expressed appreciation for all concern, prayer and encouragement.
Please join me in praying for this godly man and for his family during this time. Al has been a good friend to our church, to Sovereign Grace and to New Attitude. Let's ask that his surgery would be successful and that Al would recover quickly.

Church?
"I am reading Joshua Harris book Stop Dating the Church...love it. He talks about the people who believe they can be Christians and never go to church. I have heard this argument many times. They don't believe you have to fellowship..." (Read full post here.)

A Brief Review
"I think this book [Sex is Not the Problem (Lust Is)] would appeal to both teenagers and parents, although I would give the parents the book first to read. This is not explicit in its language but it does tackle the difficult questions." (Read full post here.)

Josh,
Thanks for your concern for Dr. Mohler. We, the student body at Southern love our President and do not take this Godly man for granted. It is because of godly men like him that Southern Baptist are where they are today. Keep doing God's work, for His glory.

I live in Louisville, KY, just a few minutes' drive from the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. We in Louisville are proud to have someone like Rev. Mohler here in our home town.
I'm not a seminary student, but I know Mohler took the reigns of SBTS at a time when the institution was at a serious crossroads -- between a choice of staying true to God's Word or bowing down to the whims of a shifting culture.
Rev. Mohler chose to pursue Godly doctrine...and the seminary is all the better for it. If he reads this blog, I hope he knows that Louisvillians have him in our prayers.
Keep up the good work, Rev.
