Sarah Brewer

Dave and Jen Brewer are dear friends of ours. We lived next to them for a while, and Dave pastors with me at our church. They have 4 beautiful children, the youngest of which is little Sarah, 18 months old. In the last few weeks, it has been discovered that Sarah's degenerating coordination and motor skills are the result of a tumor near her spine. While the tumor was successfully removed this past Friday (one answer to prayer was that it was not intertwined with her spine), there is a long road ahead to recovery. The Brewers are posting updates on their blog, and desire the prayers of friends and strangers alike. As Jen wrote yesterday,
First, let me say that we are so grateful for all your prayers. We keep saying we feel "carried" by them. ...Prayer is the greatest thing you could do for us! And let me say, your prayers are being answered. ...While there is still much grief and sadness, we are experiencing so much peace. A peace that really I cannot understand, other than it must be from God, because left to myself this would not be how I would be feeling. I also feel like the Lord has guarded our hearts and minds in the way that we have been able to process all this information in light of the cross. Even with all the information and news we receive, our hope is not in what all the doctors have to say, but rather our hope is in what Christ has already done, on the cross.Dave and Jen are my heroes, trusting the Lord in the midst of suffering. Even if you don't know them, I want to ask you to pray for little Sarah Faith Brewer and for her family as they seek to care for her and trust their God.

Church?
"I am reading Joshua Harris book Stop Dating the Church...love it. He talks about the people who believe they can be Christians and never go to church. I have heard this argument many times. They don't believe you have to fellowship..." (Read full post here.)
Jargon Meets Advice
"Boy Meets Girl: I read part of this back when I bought it 7-ish years ago. If you get past the jargon-y parts it has some solid advice." (Read full post here.)
A Brief Review
"I think this book [Sex is Not the Problem (Lust Is)] would appeal to both teenagers and parents, although I would give the parents the book first to read. This is not explicit in its language but it does tackle the difficult questions." (Read full post here.)

Hey Josh,
Long time no chat. I was just thinking about you and thought I'd stop by to see how you've been doing. I'm so glad I did.
I don't know what the Brewer's are feeling. I've never had to face a brain tumor or anything like that. But I went through three brain surgeries, and that brought it's own grief and fear. Let the Brewer's know that I am praying and I will KEEP praying. See ya Josh

Dave, Jen and little Sarah can count on the prayers of my 9 and 11 year olds! Thanks for letting us know of this need, and of their trust and faith in HIS hand upon them!
