First Night of Na 2008

We kicked off New Attitude 2008 tonight. You can read Justin Buzzard's live-blogging of the event. The message I gave entitled Ripping, Burning, Eating: A Right Response to God's Word is now available online.

Here are a few highlights for me from the night:

• Watching from the staff office as people poured into the auditorium. They were so excited. So ready. I stood there and prayed God would meet each one of them.

• Having CJ pray for me during worship before I spoke. It brought back a lot of memories of the many years of leading Na with him guiding, encouraging and helping me at every turn.

• Seeing Eric Simmons do such an effective job leading the evening. He and his team have worked so hard to put this year's conference on. His passion to see this generation grow in their love of God's word was evident throughout the night. Eric read from John 1 to open the evening. Then when he introduced me shared a very meaningful encouragement about the launch of Na ten years ago. It's hard to believe it has been that long.

• Being led in worship by Devon Kauflin and the Na Band. The skill and passion of these men is compelling. They do such a great job. We sang several songs from their new album Looked Upon which were great.

• Walking around the bookstore and talking to people. I met people from Virginia Beach and different parts of Ohio and Texas. I saw a lot of old friends. And there's something unique about being here and seeing people from Covenant Life. It fills me with fresh gratefulness for the people of our church.

• Sharing dinner with my editor David Kopp who had flown in from Colorado Springs. We had a good time talking about work on my new book, Humble Orthodoxy. It was kind of him to come out and support me.

Alright, I'm ready for bed.Tomorrow we get to hear from Mark Dever, Al Mohler and C.J. It's going to be a wonderfully full day. Goodnight.

Wow Josh! THanK YOU SO MUCH for posting your sermon online!!!
I live in the Dominican Republic, and I know a few of us at church would've loved to join you guys at the NA conference :) We appreciate your ministry and the work you're doing for Christ with young people. Well, maybe next year we get to go!
God bless you!

A new book! Yohoo! Great to hear that! Thanks for posting about NA this year! No idea when I will join again.. Maybe it has to get to Europe one day! ;)

Just been listening to your message! I really liked it a lot! What you talked about is so relevant! Your new book will also talk about this I think! Of how important it is to know God's word and read it over and over again!

Like you know already, I work with the School of Evangelism for YWAM. I think and realize it even more day after day, that I can't do evangelism without Gods word! What good news can I bring without knowing the good news myself!?

I also loved it that you used Jeremiah! I just read this book too and it has really impacted me. You even gave me a bit more understanding of it now. Thank you!

I really look forward to your new book! Enjoy the writing!

You did such a great job on your sermon. I felt so blessed by it. You rock and you're cool! I'm really looking forward to Na09!
