Latest Mac Ads

Have you seen the latest Mac vs. PC ads? My favorites are "Pep Rally" and "Group." (My apologies to all my PC-using friends. But you have to admit these are pretty funny. Right?)

Record Catch with a Barbie Fishing Rod: This is a pretty funny story. Will you look at that fish? It's bigger than the girl. It's a good thing she handed it over to her grandpa. That catfish would have dragged her away.
Blue Like Obama: Popular Christian author Donald Miller will deliver the closing prayer at the Democratic Convention on Monday night. AP Religion Writer Eric Gorski reports that originally Cameron Strang, "the 32-year-old editor of edgy and hip Relevant Magazine," was scheduled to do it but had second thoughts and pulled out. "Citing fears that his bridge-building gesture would be wrongly construed as an endorsement, Strang said he instead hopes to take a lower-profile role, participating in a convention caucus meeting on religion later in the week." The article notes that Strang found Donald Miller, author of the popular spiritual memoir 'Blue Like Jazz' to offer the prayer in his place. (Hat Tip: Mike Allen) [Update: Here's a transcript of Miller's prayer.]
Modest Clothing Trend: Styles come and go. Could there be shift toward a more modest, layered look on the rise among women? An article entitled "Mom Shocked by Teen's Modest Clothing" at CNN.com says there is. The article says, "At the spring Paris fashion shows, Stephanie Meyerson -- trend director for youth culture at Stylesight, a retail forecasting firm -- saw a definite "moving away from overtly sexual" in teen fashion, especially through layering and comfortable baggy looks. "Girls are dressing for themselves, as opposed to dressing for guys," she said. "The guys might not like it but the girls are not wearing really tight shirts. They're covered up."

Church?
"I am reading Joshua Harris book Stop Dating the Church...love it. He talks about the people who believe they can be Christians and never go to church. I have heard this argument many times. They don't believe you have to fellowship..." (Read full post here.)
Jargon Meets Advice
"Boy Meets Girl: I read part of this back when I bought it 7-ish years ago. If you get past the jargon-y parts it has some solid advice." (Read full post here.)
A Brief Review
"I think this book [Sex is Not the Problem (Lust Is)] would appeal to both teenagers and parents, although I would give the parents the book first to read. This is not explicit in its language but it does tackle the difficult questions." (Read full post here.)

Yeah that was my least favorite part about my last job... my computer. I think my headache count was much greater during my relationship with that PC.
If I was still using a PC I would be a regular reader of the "Trusting God with A Migraine" blog. :-) Do you think that's one of the migraine preventions they suggest on there, switching to a Mac?

I concur with "group," but I think I got the biggest laugh from "Yoga."

you got a mac? next laptop is going to be MAC (My Apple Computer) for me. man, apple makes you very self-centered - mac, ipod, itune, iphone - it's all about 'me' or 'i'. but still i'd love to get mac book for ME and then repent for my self-centeredness.

Indeed, some of them are funny.
But others are simply so dishonest and hypocritical that they are not only far from funny, but make the thought of supporting Apple Inc. quite distasteful. But what can one expect from Apple, being the hyper-controlling, monopolistic, condescending, arrogant corporation that it is :-)

Ironically enough, the actor who portrays the PC Guy actually owns a Mac in real life.

I love those ads! When a new one comes on I stop what I'm doing just to watch.

I love the Mac ads. I bought my Mac about 4 months ago and will (by God's grace) never go back.

Love their ads and love macs! I used pc's all my life and then we discovered macs through our small group leaders. We'll never go back to PC! Unless we become accountants and need lots of spreadsheets or something. :)
