Rebate Check

My friend told me over lunch that he got his tax rebate check. Yee-haw! He said he was committed to promptly going forth to stimulate the economy. What a patriot.

What are these rebate checks all about? Here's a helpful explanation from Dave Barry.

Q. What is an Economic Stimulus Payment?
A. It is money that the federal government will send to taxpayers.

Q. Where will the government get this money?
A. From taxpayers.

Q. So the government is giving me back my own money?
A. Only a smidgen.

Q. What is the purpose of this payment?
A. The plan is that you will use the money to purchase a high-definition TV set, thus stimulating the economy.

Q. But isn't that stimulating the economy of China?
A. Shut up.

HAHAHA....love it.

Dave Barry man...the world could do with a few more Dave Barrys.

I think more rebate checks would be a great way for "W" to improve his lasting legacy...and apparently also foreign relations. :-D

Ahh, yes, politics can be a humorous thing. Great post.

On a more serious note, I've been revisiting your series on Jeremiah. Again, it has proven challenging and encouraging. As a young person who is very involved in politics, the Lord has used Jeremiah 1 to be especially encouraging to me. :)

LOL! That is cute!

I read one the other day that said if we spend the money on computers, it goes to India.
If we spend it on cars, it goes to Japan.
If we spend it at Walmart, it goes to China.

IOW, no matter how we spend it, it will likely boost some other nation's economy, and not our own.

I did read something that said to make sure to spend it and spend on domestic products only. Me? Saving it, forget the economy! It's my money. ^__^

My roommate is miffed because she made enough to pay taxes but not enough to get a rebate. Ah, government.

Funny :-D
