Thank God They're Not Me
If you decide to never visit my blog again because all I do is talk about my brothers' new book, Do Hard Things I will understand, but I'm afraid I can't stop hyping it. I'm so thrilled to see their message taking root in the hearts of so many teenagers.
Today my brother Alex sent me this quote from a blog that he ran across. I got a big kick out of this and thought I'd pass it on. The writer is talking about Do Hard Things and says,
"I haven't read this book yet but I do expect very good things from it. These twins have a major reputation for being passionate world-changers ministering to their generation. I'm interested in anybody who's willing to be counter-cultural without being kooky and, from what I know, these guys apply. For any Josh Harris fans, these are his younger twin brothers. For any non-fans, they're not Josh Harris and write on totally different topics!"This is good advice. If you like me, than you'll love my brothers. If you hate me, my brothers are nothing like me and you'll love them. And yes, they are counter-culture without being kooky.
Now go buy and read their book!

Joel Harris on Worship: My brother Joel, who leads worship for the Rebelution conference, has written an article entitled "We Must Be Constant Worshipers."
Atheism Remix: The contemporary strain of atheism--the New Atheism--is more popular and widely accepted than previous strains. Dr. Al Mohler's newest book provides a Christian response to New Atheism's four leading thinkers: Richard Dawkins, Daniel Dennett, Sam Harris and Christopher Hitchens. You can learn more at a promotional site for the book.
Mahaney on Humor: Humor is a gift from God. When humbly and wisely used, it is a means of transferring truth and generating joy. This message by C.J. Mahaney addresses how we can use humor to build others up and honor God. It's worth a listen.

Church?
"I am reading Joshua Harris book Stop Dating the Church...love it. He talks about the people who believe they can be Christians and never go to church. I have heard this argument many times. They don't believe you have to fellowship..." (Read full post here.)
Jargon Meets Advice
"Boy Meets Girl: I read part of this back when I bought it 7-ish years ago. If you get past the jargon-y parts it has some solid advice." (Read full post here.)
A Brief Review
"I think this book [Sex is Not the Problem (Lust Is)] would appeal to both teenagers and parents, although I would give the parents the book first to read. This is not explicit in its language but it does tackle the difficult questions." (Read full post here.)

Ha! This should get the people who were holding back from buying the book because of you, Josh (which is, like, everyone I know). I'm just kidding. But it is so much easier to ask if their book is in-stock at the bookstore than it is to ask about one of your books. A couple months ago, I thought I'd see what books you had been writing recently and see how similar 'I Kissed Dating Good-bye' was to the 'True Love' conference I attended, but I couldn't find them at the bookstore (Borders) so this lady who worked there was like, "Can I help you?" So I said, "Yes, please, I'm looking for books by Harris -- Josh Harris." "Isn't he the guy who writes books on dating?" I'm thinking, Wow, this is embarrassing -- she probably thinks I'm here looking for advice on dating (which is the furthest thing from my mind -- I just want to check out the books for fun). So I play dumb, "Um... oh, I think so?" "Is there any book in particular you're looking for?" "'I Kissed Dating Good-bye." Busted.

Got to take a group of teens to see the Do Hard Things conference in Charlotte. It was life-changing. Our teen leaders got to see and meet other teen leaders who are truly humble and sincere yet not afraid to face challenges with the authority given them by Christ. Your brothers (and your father...your WHOLE FAMILY!) are doing GREAT things! Don't apologize for "hyping" them. Do whatever it takes to get the message out! Peace and blessings!

You must just laugh your head off at what some of us write on our blogs about you and other well known people.
Of course, I'm sure there are other times that make you miffed, even if it only lasts a nanosecond.
I like your new website mostly due to the frequency and variety of your posts.
My son, almost five,(okay, it was really me) loved your dinosaur movie. He has asked to watch it several times now.
You must be a fun dad!

Sigh. That anonymous comment was mine. Not like you know me anyway, I just don't like seeing the Anonymous up there.

Heather,
Thanks for dropping in and for not being "anonymous"! I'm glad you like the site.

Lol, that's me you quoted in your post. Somebody sent me over here to see for myself. I happen to kind of be a 'fan' of your books (and sermons) but didn't want people not on that style of relationships to be turned off reading it. :) I'm honoured to be quoted. lol

I just bought a couple copies of the book to give to my youth group's graduating seniors. I'm 3/4 of the way through it myself, and it's great. Tell your brothers to keep up the good work!

Josh, I genuinely don't understand what it means to be kooky? What do you mean by this?
