Kirk Cameron Will Only Kiss His Wife

This makes me happy. I know Cameron's position is rare in Hollywood, but at least he's honoring his commitment and showing other actors that there's another way.

I've always wondered how love scenes could not be harmful to a marriage. Acting or not, it seems like that sort of danger and potential problems wouldn't be worth any amount of money or fame; but I guess I see how it's so typical that actors do not even question it. Then again, we as consumers are going along with it too. Hmm.

I have often contemplated my own "hypocrisy" (if that's what it should be called) in viewing movies with actors and actresses who kiss "complete strangers." Should I boycott them all completely? Do I allow my boys to see that kind of interaction on tv and in movies and then expect them to wait for The One Woman God has for them?

Yes, actually I have wondered that! I think about how (hypothetically) if I were an actress, I would feel uncomfortable doing a romantic scene or if the character had to use profanity.

That was a good article; I admire Kirk Cameron and the example he sets. My local church showed a trailer for Fireproof, and I am interested in seeing it, too!

This is sweet, but could this be considered a realistic model for a struggling actor navigating the treacherous ground of Hollywood? The idea is amusing at best. You are talking about an established actor with the fredom to pick and choose his projects working with producers and casting directors who were willing to indulge him. Even with all that he didn't manage to skirt the issue of an on screen kiss.

Less than 10% of all SAG actors earn more than $5000 a year. You also have producers who are contractually obligated to deliver a love scene for their financial backers.

The best an actor can do is be up front with their agent (if they are lucky enough to have one) about where their line is. I personally have grown comfortable with being willing to kiss on screen, even though I don't really like it.
