John Newton and Bob Kauflin "The Look"
Tonight at our Good Friday night of prayer and worship we sang this song:
I saw one hanging on a tree
In agony and blood
Who fixed His loving eyes on me
As near His cross I stood
And never till my dying breath
Will I forget that look
It seemed to charge me with His death
Though not a word He spoke
My conscience felt and owned the guilt
And plunged me in despair
I saw my sins His blood had spilt
And helped to nail Him there
But with a second look He said
"I freely all forgive
this blood is for your ransom paid
I died that you might live"
Forever etched upon my mind
Is the look of Him who died
The Lamb I crucified
And now my life will sing the praise
Of pure atoning grace
That looked on me and gladly took my place
Thus while His death my sin displays
For all the world to view
Such is the mystery of grace
It seals my pardon too
With pleasing grief and mournful joy
My spirit now is filled
That I should such a life destroy
Yet live by Him I killed.

Pilgrim's Progress Musical: Pilgrim is a modern musical adaptation of John Bunyan's classic work, Pilgrim's Progress. It was performed in spring 2009 by the high school students at my church. They did a great job. The script is by theatre professionals (and members of our church) Janice Mays and Cathy Mays. The music is by various artists, including Bob Kauflin, Zach Jones and Mark Altrogge. You can order a DVD of the production here.
Give Me An Answer Highschool Conference: I'm looking forward to joining Al Mohler, Russell Moore, Shane & Shane and hip-hop artist Flame at the SBTS conference for highschool students next spring. Details.
Stephen Altrogge Reviews Dug Down Deep: Over at the Blazing Center blog they've posted a very generous review of the book. Read it.

Josh,
This might be the wrong place, but I was hoping to add some SGM people to contribute for Evangelical Village. If you know anyone who might be interested please let me know!

Josh,
I was looking through some of your past posts and came across one that your wife did on homeschool curriculum. She had said that you guys were going to try My Father's World. I was just wondering if you guys ended up going through with that and how it went. I'm considering using them...although it is a bit pricey to add it all up. Anyway, I was wondering how your experience went. Also, I was wondering if you used their recommendations for math and language arts...
Thanks for sharing!
Warmly,
Elizabeth
