Kevin DeYoung's Book on the Church is Better Than Mine

I wrote a book on the church. Kevin DeYoung and Ted Kluck also wrote a book about the church. I like their book better. I imagine this makes my book feel bad to have its author pick another favorite. (The picture I drew above portrays how my book must feel.) But it can't be helped. DeYoung and Kluck's book entitled Why We Love the Church: In Praise of Institutions and Organized Religion is outstanding. It "paints a picture of the local church in all its biblical and real life guts, gaffes, and glory in an effort to edify local congregations and entice the disaffected back to the fold." Get a copy. Don't worry, my book will get over it.

Hard to believe. I ordered a number of your books and gave them out to people thinking about joining ours.
Just to keep you honest, I ordered DeYoung's book and will look it over.
You set the bar pretty high though.

Gotta say that your book on the church is still one of the best resources to help our people grasp what it looks like to love the church. We still refer it to people struggling with "church" and recommend it to serial daters of Christ's beloved bride. Your book has been foundational in my love for the church. I hope Kevin DeYoung and Ted Kluck's book is as good as yours for the sake of the Gospel.

Seriously, you guys I didn't write this post to convince you to say nice things about my book! But I have to say this has worked out quite nicely (grin). Thanks for the encouragement and please do check out Kevin's book. It's very different from Stop Dating the Church and I think they compliment each other well. I'm just glad there are books being written on this important topic.

Are you saying you are not satisfied the way God inspired you to write your book. There is room enough on the book shelves to hold many such books. I just happen to like the way you write and I will probably choose yours AND because you are my pastor!
We love you Josh no matter how small your books are.
