Hi Josh. I haven't read your blog until recently but I've read your younger brothers' book and read the Rebelution blog for quite a while. I agree with you that Joe Wilson should not have made that comment when he did, but, he was completely correct in accusation that President Obama was lying. What Obama said about his health-care bill not covering illegal aliens was complete bogus. So you're right, Joe Wilson should not have yelled that in the middle of Obama's speech. But I think that Joe Wilson was speaking for a lot of us and when he said that and that the Democrats are being total hypocrites about this - when Bush was in office people said that and worst about him all the time and they [the Democrats] just said that they were expressing themselves.

You know what Josh... I've kept you around sitting in my RSS Reader for far too long. I liked your first and second book, but I'm sick of your political opinions. Keep them to yourself, and have a good life because I won't be reading your useless blog anymore.

I want to apologize for my first comment because I was very angry and I thank you for replying to it with love despite my harsh words.
And looking over your post again, I wanted to post a more educated response...
I like the specific proverb that you posted here because it holds true and is echoed in Mark Twain's more waggish quote: "It's better to keep your mouth shut and appear stupid than to open it and remove all doubt."
However, I also remember from the bible where Jesus stood for what was right, and got angry at the way things were being done (most specifically in the Temple in John 2).
I think this is what happened to Joe Wilson. I feel as though he was so angered and outraged by the constant lies and "side-mouthed" talking that's going on in Washington and frankly I have to admire someone that take such passion so much that is moved to say something about it.
My one regret is the fashion in which Joe expressed this; However, for too long in Washington the increasingly liberal left just yells a lot and magically things they want to get done, get done.
I'm 25 years old and I hate what's going on in our country so I can say with complete honesty that Joe Wilson echoed what I feel in my heart every time I see coverage from anything in Washington.
To close I pray that God's Blessings be upon you and I will now leave you with my love.
Thanks,
Joshua C. Adkisson

Had a Democrat done something similar during a State of the Union address during the Bush Administration, this verse would apply equally. In this instance the facts are not on the side of Mr. Wilson. I think in his response to Mr. Wilson, the President exhibited wisdom and fairness. I may not always agree with him but I do respect him. I know this puts me in the minority among evangelicals, but I think that respect should be given and we should pray for wisdom for ourselves and for our leaders.

"Answer a fool according to his foolishness, or he'll become wise in his own eyes." (Prov. 26:5)

"I may not always agree with him but I do respect him. I know this puts me in the minority among evangelicals..."
I certainly hope this belief doesn't put you in the minority amongst believers. If so, we are in some serious trouble.
