"The quest for a contemplative life can actually be self-absorbed, focused on my quiet and me. If we love people and have the power to help, then we are going to be busy. Learning to pray doesn't offer us a less busy life; it offers us a less busy heart. In the midst of outer busyness we can develop an inner quiet. Because we are less hectic on the inside, we have a greater capacity to love...and thus to be busy, which in turn drives us even more into a life of prayer. By spending time with our Father in prayer, we integrate our lives with his, with what he is doing in us. Our lives become more coherent. They feel calmer, more ordered, even in the midst of confusion and pressure." - Paul E. Miller, A Praying Life
I’m a follower of Jesus Christ. I live in Gaithersburg, Maryland, with an amazing wife and three wacky, fun kids. I'm a pastor at Covenant Life Church. I’m also a writer.
My friend Donald Miller shares a helpful tip for writers: get a kitchen timer. Don explains, "When I have two or three writing assignments I just make a list, then pick one, then set my little timer for an hour or twenty minutes or whatever amount of time that specific assignment will cost me. And then, while the timer is ticking away on my desk, I don't let myself do anything else....When the timer goes off, I decide whether I want to keep working on it, or move on. It's a simple tool, but it works." Read more.
Tim Challies asks whether he's ready to address his Google search history with God. "What would I say to him if he were to ask me about the things I have gone looking for online? Could I tell him with confidence that what I have sought is an indication of a heart that is aligned with his purposes? Or would I have to confess that my searches point to a heart that is drawn to what is evil and perverse?" Read the post.

I really like this post. Something my heart needed to hear.
Ah, this is one of my favorite books that I currently own. I've read it at least twice, back to front. It's a very recommended book on prayer!

Something that I need to hear right now. God is So Amazing.
I wish that had someone like you (Josh Harris) here in Shelbyville, KY or Louisville, KY. They are looking for a pastor at Highland Baptist Church if you know someone that is like you Biblical. Send to them way. God is Awesome All The Time. Amen.
does BUSY mean:
B-eing
U-nder
S-atan's
Y-oke?
lets try to think...
What a blessing! I am so happy to have stumbled over these words. I have been conflicted on the when is life too busy vs. just busy enough. I certainly don't advocate being busy for busy-sake, but when an opportunity arises that will further the kingdom of God, or enhance your own relationship with the Father, then God will give you the time needed to work his will and it's no longer called busyness. It's all about perspective.
