This month Covenant Life had the joy of sending a great team led by Eric Simmons to plant a new Sovereign Grace church in Arlington, Virginia. We're very excited to see how God uses this new church. It's hard to have dear friends departing, but it's invigorating to see the gospel mission advancing. Redeemer Arlington won't begin public meetings till the spring but in the meantime you can follow them on Twitter and here's their under-construction website.

Hi Pastor Josh,

My name is Josue Pinto, we met a few weeks back at Covenant Life Church on the sunday you did the send-off for the Arlington church group.

I met Eric briefly that day, but I wasn't able to get details on when and where their first meeting will be.

If you could point me in the right direction I'd really appreciate it. I'm really looking forward to joining the Redeemer Arlington group in the weeks to come, as I've been looking for a church to call "home" here in the DC area.

Writing Tip: Kitchen Timer

My friend Donald Miller shares a helpful tip for writers: get a kitchen timer. Don explains, "When I have two or three writing assignments I just make a list, then pick one, then set my little timer for an hour or twenty minutes or whatever amount of time that specific assignment will cost me. And then, while the timer is ticking away on my desk, I don't let myself do anything else....When the timer goes off, I decide whether I want to keep working on it, or move on. It's a simple tool, but it works." Read more.
