I’m a follower of Jesus Christ. I live in Gaithersburg, Maryland, with an amazing wife and three wacky, fun kids. I'm a pastor at Covenant Life Church. I’m also a writer.
My friend Donald Miller shares a helpful tip for writers: get a kitchen timer. Don explains, "When I have two or three writing assignments I just make a list, then pick one, then set my little timer for an hour or twenty minutes or whatever amount of time that specific assignment will cost me. And then, while the timer is ticking away on my desk, I don't let myself do anything else....When the timer goes off, I decide whether I want to keep working on it, or move on. It's a simple tool, but it works." Read more.
Tim Challies asks whether he's ready to address his Google search history with God. "What would I say to him if he were to ask me about the things I have gone looking for online? Could I tell him with confidence that what I have sought is an indication of a heart that is aligned with his purposes? Or would I have to confess that my searches point to a heart that is drawn to what is evil and perverse?" Read the post.

This is a positive vote FOR this film, just one little comment that perhaps it is unfair to identify one as a presbyterian, when the other is not so labelled.
per previous comment, that the 'other' is a charismatic, goes without labeling. ;o) Cute film, not sure I understood the message though... God works (or not) despite our theological differences? Or.. both pastors were effectively demonstrating the gospel? Just a little unclear, but perhaps with more work. How does the message of the film relate to the book?
Neither medical help nor Spiritual gymnastics helped the sick man. Righteous prayer moved the Spirit to act for God's Glory, not to make the people happy.....interesting film. Good work!
Great little movie!
The spirit must have been with you! To hands up to the sky!
Great short Guy! I really like the perspective and objectivity.
The reason for the theological divide amongst so many (which the film aptly portrays!) is that we have ignored the Apostolic advice not to divide fellowship over convictions, but keep those between God and ourselves. But I'm not gonna start a denomination over it!
This is what I like to see out of what i watch real life showing who God is and not some concept. Looking forward to reading this book. Good film from a fellow storyteller.
Wonderful and intense
I vote for this one! Great movie:)
I've always struggled with the tension shown in this short film. I'm grateful to have a visual hook on which I can hang my thoughts. Great job.
The Spirit of God is at work. We don't always understand the how and why. I think both pastors will have a lot to think about. Both seemed to have assumptions: one immediately assumed that the old man was not a believer and the other seemed to dubious about the effectiveness of his prayer. Great work!
My problem with this film is the nurse did not attempt CPR, so it is unrealistic.
I thought this was a really good short film. Great job to Guy and to the whole cast and crew
Very dramatic and though provoking.
I vote for this one. Great Job!
Loved it! I vote for this one. Nice work.
Great movie!
Thanks for the comment, Lynn - we did shoot with the CPR, but the contest had a time limit which forced us to edit it out. Too bad!
Sola fide certainly. Not faith in the gifts, not faith in the knowledge; faith in Jesus Christ alone. There is the message.
Good film. I don't feel a nurse just happens to have a stethoscope hanging around her neck.....however I feel she was the best actor in this short film. Crystal probably would have given us a great performance if her character could have performed as a nurse does in this situation. Looking forward to more intense rolls for her. Great Job!
Loved this! Very interesting!!
I thought the short film was pretty good. Nothing like I expected...Good actors and a nice professional look. Good Job Crystal and company. I was impressed...
Sean
This was a wonderful reminder that the Holy Spirit is real, and powerful.
I liked the black and white look!
Great job everyone who worked on this film!
Great short! Made me think of Emo Philips' bridge story just a little bit.
Very good short film, enjoyed it, wish it was more. Good job!
This was great, The tounges was kinda funny though. There were more like rhyming (LOL). But it was great Ministers.
Well dramic and powerful short.
Interesting. I vote for this one.
Great job.
Excellent job! It was intense with intermittent spurts of humor, AND it left me thinking. Professionally done.
I was impressed. Good acting, Crystal!
Great film, keep me "guessing" on how it would end - would one be right over the other? Did a great job getting a message across in little time.
You got a winner!
I liked the way the (Presbyterian) pastor used Scripture to inform his answers, actions, and prayers.
Captured the strength of two very different traditions that need to be reformed and reforming according to the Word of God. The common ground is love for Christ and for his Truth. Definitely wins my vote!
Very thought provoking film. Both ministers thought themselves to be good pastors, both pastors did what was right in their own eyes, and in the end, it was God who spoke through the man to tell them all a message. It seemed like it was God's timing for him to die, neither imploring God to have mercy on him, medical assistance from the nurse, nor logical assistance from the other pastor could change all that. I really liked it!
I vote for Camara.
When my time comes, may I have the simple faith of the old man.
Great job everyone! It looks great!
You can always count on Guy Camara for superb direction, which he again displays here.
Great movie!
Interesting and like black and white look.
Excellent portrayal of two different men with common ground.
Simply awesome. I hope this wins.
This is a well thought out short film. I know this film's message has been left open to discussion, but what I got from the film was that when your Creator says your time is up, the "faith healer" can't help you and a doctor can't either.
On a side note, I put myself in the Prespertarian Pastor's perspective more than the Pentecostal Pastor's. Then again, I am more analytical and practical while I think the Pentecostal Pastor is a bit shallow.
But like I said, I believe this movie purposely left things open for different interpretations. There basically is no moral to this story and that is why I liked it.
I don't think that this film serves to convey the message of the book at all, and I think that the mocking of the charismatic pastor should exclude this film from use.
Just because someone doesn't understand complete truth doesn't meant that their hearts aren't in the right place, that they don't love God with all that they are, or that they should be mocked.
