IKDG DVD
This dynamic DVD features drama, on-the-street interviews, personal testimonies, and segments of me teaching before a live audience. The goal of these messages is to help singles reconsider their romantic lives in light of God's Word.
There are five messages total, the first three were filmed in 1999 and are drawn from my book I Kissed Dating Goodbye:
• Love: What is true love, and how does its power make it possible for you to enjoy lifelong, meaningful friendships?
• Purity: In an age of compromise, how do we outward modesty and inward purity? What should our ultimate miotivation be for living a life of purity, and why should it be a priority in your life?
• Trust: Singleness is not a time for watching life go by, but a chance to develop your gifts and use this season--however long it is--to serve the Lord, while trusting God for his good timing for romance.
There are also two bonus messages that were taped at my church last year, and are based on content related to my second book, Boy Meets Girl.
• Courtship Shmourtship: Addresses misconceptions people have about courtship, and takes a biblical look at relationships.
• Courtship: A Community Project: Looks at how godly relationships can function in the context of the local church.
These bonus messages don't have the same production quality of the first three (you're just sitting in on a Sunday meeting at our church) but we've gotten encouraging feedback on how they answer questions that my books have generated. (We refer to these two as the "bald Josh" messages. The original three messages are the "Josh with Elvis Hair" messages.)
Each of the five messages are approximately 1 hour in length. The DVD is a helpful resource for youth groups or singles ministries, for sparking small group discussion as well as personal viewing.

Record Catch with a Barbie Fishing Rod: This is a pretty funny story. Will you look at that fish? It's bigger than the girl. It's a good thing she handed it over to her grandpa. That catfish would have dragged her away.
Blue Like Obama: Popular Christian author Donald Miller will deliver the closing prayer at the Democratic Convention on Monday night. AP Religion Writer Eric Gorski reports that originally Cameron Strang, "the 32-year-old editor of edgy and hip Relevant Magazine," was scheduled to do it but had second thoughts and pulled out. "Citing fears that his bridge-building gesture would be wrongly construed as an endorsement, Strang said he instead hopes to take a lower-profile role, participating in a convention caucus meeting on religion later in the week." The article notes that Strang found Donald Miller, author of the popular spiritual memoir 'Blue Like Jazz' to offer the prayer in his place. (Hat Tip: Mike Allen) [Update: Here's a transcript of Miller's prayer.]
Modest Clothing Trend: Styles come and go. Could there be shift toward a more modest, layered look on the rise among women? An article entitled "Mom Shocked by Teen's Modest Clothing" at CNN.com says there is. The article says, "At the spring Paris fashion shows, Stephanie Meyerson -- trend director for youth culture at Stylesight, a retail forecasting firm -- saw a definite "moving away from overtly sexual" in teen fashion, especially through layering and comfortable baggy looks. "Girls are dressing for themselves, as opposed to dressing for guys," she said. "The guys might not like it but the girls are not wearing really tight shirts. They're covered up."

Church?
"I am reading Joshua Harris book Stop Dating the Church...love it. He talks about the people who believe they can be Christians and never go to church. I have heard this argument many times. They don't believe you have to fellowship..." (Read full post here.)
Jargon Meets Advice
"Boy Meets Girl: I read part of this back when I bought it 7-ish years ago. If you get past the jargon-y parts it has some solid advice." (Read full post here.)
A Brief Review
"I think this book [Sex is Not the Problem (Lust Is)] would appeal to both teenagers and parents, although I would give the parents the book first to read. This is not explicit in its language but it does tackle the difficult questions." (Read full post here.)
