New Attitude
Truth. Lived out. With Humility.
New Attitude exists to help Christians rediscover the unchanging truth found in God's word and recommit to living that truth. We do this in two ways: the big annual conference and the ongoing conversation on the New Attitude website. Led by Eric Simmons and Joshua Harris, pastors at Covenant Life Church, Na is grounded in the churches of Sovereign Grace Ministries. In both the conference and its website, our goal remains to equip people and point them back to their own local church communities.
New Attitude exists because we believe that truth matters. The truth of God's Word should not be redefined or reinvented to suit our preferences or out culture. We don't change the truth--the truth should change us. We call this conviction "humble orthodoxy."
Humble orthodoxy is a commitment to believe, live, and represent the truth with humility.
We want to bring the message of Christ to our world with our words and with our lives--to humbly say, "Look at my life and see how the gospel has changed me."
This year at New Attitude 2007, we'll spend four days examining our lives through the lens of God's Word. We want to become those who "have their powers of discernment trained by constant practice to distinguish good from evil" (Hebrews 5:14).
Discernment is looking closely at what we believe, the culture we absorb, the motives of our hearts, what we think and do and say, in light of God's Word.
Humble orthodoxy takes discernment.
2007 message topics:
- How do we discern what is primary and secondary doctrine?
- How do we discern what to accept, reject, and adapt to in our culture?
- How does our conscience fit into a practice of discernment?
- How do we discern the motives of our own hearts?
2007 speakers:
- Joshua Harris
- Eric Simmons
- CJ Mahaney
- Mark Dever
- Al Mohler
- John Piper

Bad Guy Caught With a Mac: This is a great story. A girl's Apple laptop gets stolen but she uses a remote access program to control it and takes a picture of the thief as the doofus sits in front of the stolen computer. "Smile! You're getting your mug shot taken!" Using the picture, the police nab the bad guy. Moral of the story? Don't mess with a high-tech girl's Mac.
New Word Alive's Top 10: The recent New Word Alive conference showed a video top-ten list of books for students. My book Sex is Not the Problem made the list. It's pretty funny. I just wish mine could have made it in the wok.
Challies on Do Hard Things: Here's a review by Tim Challies of my brothers' new book Do Hard Things.

Church?
"I am reading Joshua Harris book Stop Dating the Church...love it. He talks about the people who believe they can be Christians and never go to church. I have heard this argument many times. They don't believe you have to fellowship..." (Read full post here.)
Jargon Meets Advice
"Boy Meets Girl: I read part of this back when I bought it 7-ish years ago. If you get past the jargon-y parts it has some solid advice." (Read full post here.)
A Brief Review
"I think this book [Sex is Not the Problem (Lust Is)] would appeal to both teenagers and parents, although I would give the parents the book first to read. This is not explicit in its language but it does tackle the difficult questions." (Read full post here.)
